Ever feel like you’ve been working non-stop… but making zero real progress?
You’re not alone. Many of us confuse activity with productivity. But here’s the
truth: “80% of results come from 20% of efforts.” - Pareto Principle
The Power of the 80/20 Rule. This simple principle has transformed the way I
look at my time, priorities, and results.
You might ask what does this mean to me? It means there’s a good chance
you’re spending too much time on things that look productive but don’t
actually move the needle.
Whether it’s sorting emails, jumping between meetings, over-polishing a deck,
or saying yes to tasks that should be a no… you may be investing your best
time in your least impactful work.
Ask yourself:
What tasks are giving me the most return for my energy and effort?
What’s really moving my goals, my team, or my projects forward?
What am I doing out of obligation or habit that’s draining my progress?
Here’s what you can do: Identify your 20%. The core things that generate the
biggest outcomes - at work, at home, or in your leadership. Then double
down on those. Even small shifts in focus can yield big results.
We won’t get more hours in a day. We need to be intentional with the time
we have and use it wisely!
“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your
priorities.” - Stephen R. Covey.
“Don't confuse activity with productivity. Many people are simply busy
being busy.” - Robin Sharma
